How to Donate Blood on TRT
A clear, step-by-step guide to help you donate blood on trt. This guide applies to all TRT protocols.
Step-by-Step Guide
1
Get your hematocrit checked via CBC bloodwork before donating
2
If hematocrit is above 52%, schedule a blood donation or therapeutic phlebotomy
3
Contact your local Red Cross, blood bank, or phlebotomy service to schedule
4
Drink plenty of water in the 24 hours before your donation
5
Eat a healthy meal 2-3 hours before your appointment
6
Disclose your TRT use to the phlebotomist — testosterone use does not disqualify you from donating at most centers
7
After donating, rest for 15 minutes, drink fluids, and avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours
8
Recheck your hematocrit 2-4 weeks after donation to confirm levels have decreased
Important Reminders
- Always follow your healthcare provider's specific instructions
- Testosterone is a controlled substance requiring a prescription and medical oversight
- Get regular bloodwork every 3-6 months to monitor your levels
- Report any unexpected symptoms to your provider promptly
